Nigeria Gains Valuable Experience at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad 2026

Nigeria’s participation in the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) has been described as a significant step in advancing female representation in high-level mathematics and STEM. The Nigerian team, sponsored by SMA, competed alongside some of the world’s brightest young mathematicians, gaining valuable international exposure, competition experience, and confidence. Beyond the contest, the Nigerian delegation strengthened ties with the Rwandan team through collaborative engagements and a joint dinner with members of the African Diaspora Network in Paris. The interactions fostered cultural exchange, friendship, and discussions on the future of mathematics education in Africa. The academy noted that the experience reinforces its commitment to preparing more Nigerian girls to excel on the global stage and contribute to the growth of STEM across the continent.
